Chapter 36: Lin Xuan

Translator: Cold Love

The next day.

Chen Xi did not expect that the little kiddo would urged him to hurry as class was starting soon. Before Chen Xi could even clear the plates after breakfast, the little kiddo was already dragging him out.

“Papa, let’s go! I have to go to class, teacher said we cannot be late. If we are late, we are bad kids!”

Aunty Zhang called for Chen Xi to leave the plates on the table as she smiled, “SInce this little kiddo loves kindergarten so much, you just bring her there. I will keep the plates later.”

Maybe the little kiddo was used to going out in the morning and coming home at night, she was not as clingy to Aunty Zhang as then.

Chen Xi proceeded to wipe his hands and put on his shoes while the little kiddo impatiently opened the door and ran outside. She then turned around and waved at Aunty Zhang, “Goodbye grandma!”

“Good girl, see you! Remember to listen to your teacher.”

“I know!”

The little kiddo was extremely excited.

Once outside, Chen Xi was bewildered why the little kiddo was even more excited than the previous day and inquired, “Nian Nian, is kindergarten very fun? Why are you so happy?”

The little kiddo immediately raised her head and smiled, “Teacher will be teaching us drawing today!”

“Oh, you know how to draw?”

“No, I don’t know how to draw.”

The little kiddo shook her head and continued in a cheerful tone, “But I will know how to draw after teacher teaches me!”

“Then after you learn how to draw, will you show it to papa once you are back?”

“En! I want to draw papa, grandma, and also mama!”

The little kiddo heavily nodded her head and hugged Chen Xi’s head. She smiled and said, “Teacher said that first place will get a red flower sticker. I want to get the red flower sticker.” Her voice was like fragrant glutinous rice; sweet and sticky.

“Then Nian Nian will have to work hard and try to get a red flower sticker. Papa will stick it onto the wall for you!”

“Ok!”

While conversing, the father and daughter pair soon reached the kindergarten.

The kindergarten entrance was filled with parents and…

Numerous children that were crying.

A boy refused to enter and decided to sit on the floor, as he clung onto his mother’s trousers. No matter how much the mother persuaded him, the boy refused to listen nor enter the kindergarten. His mother was so infuriated that she almost hit him.

Seeing that display, Chen Xi took advantage of Nian Nian’s excitement and asked, “Nian Nian see, is that big brother embarrassing?”

“Crybaby, shame, shame, shame.”

While saying it, the little kiddo used her fingers to trace tears stains on her face as she made a look of disdain.

“Next time when papa send you here, you cannot be like him ah.”

“I’m not  a crybaby!”

The little kiddo proudly turned her head, completely forgetting her miserable state the day before.

Teacher Wang and 2 other teachers stood at the school gates as they welcomed their students. Chen Xi let Nian Nian down and urged her to go over.

However, the little kiddo stood on the spot and pulled Chen Xi’s hand. Next, she pointed to her cheeks.

Seeing this, Chen Xi laughed as he squatted down, he then gave the little kiddo a huge kiss on the cheeks. After receiving the kiss did she then energetically hopped to the school gates.

“Bye bye papa!”

“Go on, remember to listen to your teacher. Papa will be here after school.”

After the little kiddo went in, Chen Xi came to the fence and decided to watch them finish their morning exercise first before going back.

Not long after, he phone started ringing.

Chen Xi took out his phone and saw that it was from Lin Xuan.

“Hello?” Chen Xi picked up the call, but there were no sound coming from the other side.

“Hi? Lin Xuan?” Chen Xi called out to her but still did not receive any reply.

Just when he was about to hang up, a low male voice sounded from the other side, “Chen Xi?”

Chen Xi paused for a while before asking, “Hello, who are you? Why are you calling me using Lin Xuan’s phone?”

The man on the other side started laughing as he said with ridicule, “Have you forgotten about me so soon?”

Chen Xi was stunned for a while but he quickly recovered. In an instant, his face became extremely ugly.

He coldly asked, “Zhao Yuan?”

“Hahaha…Bingo. Actually, I have nothing to do and just wanted to tell you that I am well…”

“Lin Xuan. Where is she?”

Standing outside the kindergarten, Chen Xi’s voice sounded extremely chilling and harsh, as if his voice came from the nine depths of hell.

“Lin Xuan? Oh, she’s with me. I’m just borrowing her phone to call you, I will return it to her later.”

“Zhao Yuan, I warn you, if you dare touch a single hair on her, I will make sure you understand the pain of flaying your skin and ripping your tendons.”

*Ka Cha* When his voice just ended, the ceramic tile beneath Chen Xi’s feet shattered into pieces.

Zhao Yuan laughed as he said, “I will let you talk to her.”

Chen Xi turned up the volume but after a while, he could only hear some static. There was no sound coming from the other side.

*PA!*

Suddenly, a slapping sound came from the other side.

It was followed by Zhao Yuan’s eerie voice, “Say something, say something to him!”

However, there was no response from the other side, it was as if Zhao Yuan was talking to the air.

Chen Xi waited for a while but still heard nothing.

Another slap sound rang out.

“I fucking let you talk!”

Chen Xi felt that something was off and immediately shouted, “Lin Xuan? Lin Xuan, are you okay?”

On the other side of the phone.

Lin Xuan sat on the sofa as Zhao Yuan placed the phone by her mouth, continuously asking her to talk.

However, Lin Xuan sealed her lip shut and refused to make any sound no matter how Zhao Yuan hit her.

“Fuck!”

Zhao Yuan was truly incensed. He grabbed her hair and pulled it up, as if he wanted to raise her up by pulling her hair.

Lin Xuan’s hand was tied behind her back and could not resist him. In the end, she could only let out a pained moan.

Exposed, Lin Xuan no longer bother to endure it and immediately shouted, “Chen Xi, don’t listen to him, don’t find me. Call the police!”

“Fucking bitch, still want to play tricks!”

Zhao Yuan vicious spat on her and gave her another slap.

After hitting her, Zhao Yuan picked up the phone and said with a heavy tone, “Chen Xi, I advise you not to call the police. Otherwise, you know what will happen…”

Chapter 35: Education

Afternoon 3pm.

Though there was still 30 minutes before school ended, there was already a crowd of people gathering at the gates.

Of course, they were all parents that had come to fetch their kids.

A 20 plus year old young man such as Chen Xi stood out amidst a crowd of aunties and uncles, like a crane in a flock of chicken.

The children were currently playing in the playground within the kindergarten.

Separated by a fence, Chen Xi gazed at the little kiddo. She was so engrossed in playing with the slide that she was oblivious to Chen Xi’s presence.

Looking at how elated she was, almost forgetting about her father, it made Chen Xi felt at ease.

He was really worried that Nian Nian might not be able to adapt to the kindergarten’s environment.

He definitely would not allow Nian Nian to have any mental disorder such as autism, clinical depression and so on, because when it came to psychological disorder or trauma, he really had no way of curing it…

While watching Nian Nian from outside the fence, a hand suddenly reached out and tapped his shoulder?

“Aye, young man, are you Aunty Zhang’s son?”

Chen Xi turned around and saw an aged woman smiling at him.

It was the woman he met in the district when he first came back to Earth.

“Ah, yes. I lived at the fifth block, first unit, 302. Aunty, you are?

“No wonder you look so familiar. It seems that I’ve seen you quite a few times in the district. When I suddenly saw Nian Nian inside, I guessed that you might be her father…My surname is Qian, just call me Aunty Qian. My grandson is also inside, there, there he is, that troublemaker.”

While saying, she pointed to a boy that was running like mad in the playground.

Based on her attitude, it seemed that she has forgotten that she used to regard Chen Xi as crazy beggar.

“Hello Aunty Qian, I was working overseas and finally have the time to come back, hence, I haven’t recognize most of our neighbors yet…”

“No big deal, you get get to know as time goes.”

Aunty waved her hand as she laughed, “Let me tell you, Nian Nian is the most behaving kid in our district. The little lady is so adorable, our Peng Peng likes to play with her the most.”

“Is it? Haha…”

Chen Xi politely smiled.

Maybe it was because that he was not used to communicating with the elders, he was at a loss on what to say and could only reply their ramblings with a smile.

“Of course. There was this one time when I jokingly told Peng Peng that I will let him marry Nian Nian when he grows up. You should have seen his embarrassed face, it was as red as a tomato.”

“Really?”

“That’s for sure. The kids now were much smarter than us back in our days, they were able to tell who is good looking or not. A lot of children in the district likes to play with Nian Nian, however, it used to be only Aunty Zhang that was caring for Nian Nian and hence, Nian Nian did not come out often to play. Since you are back, be sure to bring Nian Nian out to play more often…”

Hearing this, the agreeable smiled was still plastered on his face, however, Chen Xi became slightly vigilant.

Martinson, S.M. proposed that toddlers from around 3 years of age will develop feelings for the opposite sex.

Kids desired for knowledge and they were curious about everything and anything, including their own body parts.

Sometimes, it was by themselves, other times, it was with the other sex, they would let each other see or touch.

It manifested in many ways, such as [Play Doctor], [Play Marriage], [Play Skirt], [Play House] and so on.

According to the Nagoya City Council of Youth Issues, they conducted an experiment in 1970 on 290 toddlers, among which, 201 of them displayed actions of [Play Skirt].

70% of them stopped the act under the supervision of adults; 167 of them peeped in the toilet, 164 peeped from under the skirt and 108 flipped the skirt.

Hence, it was impossible to effectively avoid this widespread actions among toddlers.

Thinking up to this point, Chen Xi started to feel slightly uncomfortable.

You dare to hit on my daughter?

Impossible, I have to find a chance to educate Nian Nian about her gender…

There was a certain way of development of a person’s sexual psychology and their gender roles. Normally, the results would be normal. However, if one imparted the wrong method of educating, it might caused some abnormality.

Especially for children aged 3 to 5, after going through sexual education, they receive the conformity from society on their awareness of sociology and psychology of sexuality.

If the parents were aware that their child had an incorrect view on their own sexuality, they had to keep calm and correct the child with patience, guide the child naturally and not reprimand or scare them.

For example, when some mothers saw their child playing with organ X, they would scold, “Do not touch!”, “Dirty! Don’t touch that place!” or “This is so embarrassing! Don’t touch it next time!”

Or they would forcefully pry their hands away, some would even beat their child up.

This would easily cause the child to develop a misconception at a very young age: Organ X is dirty, must not be seen by people, can’t be touched. Anything related to organ X must be restricted, if not one will be punished.

Guiding the child naturally and leading them onto the correct path were the only effective correct method.

It might be due to his traditional mindset, after talking with Aunty Qian, Chen Xi’s feelings became extremely complicated.

Since Nian Nian was a girl, as a father, he felt that Nian Nian might be at a disadvantage.

Although Chen Xi understood that those were just kids fooling around, moreover, it was a natural instinct for humans to do that, however, he felt slightly uncomfortable about it…

Very uncomfortable…

Extremely uncomfortable

It was finally 4pm when the children were dismissed.

Chen Xi pushed his way to front of the school gates and the little kiddo spotted Chen Xi straight away.

While calling out “Papa”, the little kiddo wanted to squeeze out from in between the metal gate. However, she was timely stopped by Teacher Wang.

Not anyone could just fetch the child home from the kindergarten. Once Teacher Wang spotted Chen Xi, she held Nian Nian’s hand and brought her outside.

“Papa!”

Just when she stepped out of the school, the little kiddo pounced onto Chen Xi’s leg and hugged it. She then raised her head and sweetly said, “Papa, I miss you so so much!”

“Good girl!” *Muack*

Chen Xi gave a big laugh as he carried the little kiddo and prompted her to bid farewell to Teacher Wang, “Come, say goodbye to teacher.”

“Goodbye teacher!”

The little kiddo waved her hand energetically, it looked like her impression of Teacher Wang was not bad.

After exchanging a few pleasantries with Chen Xi and praising the little kiddo for being so thoughtful, she busied herself with sending another child.

Chen Xi carried Nian Nian while the little kiddo excitedly told Chen Xi about her experience in school.

“Nian Nian, do you like the kindergarten?”

“like!”

The little kiddo forcefully nodded her head.

Initially, she often had to play by herself, but now, she suddenly had so many friends her age, how could she not be happy?

“Papa will bring you here again tomorrow, okay?”

“Okay!”

“Good girl.”

Chen Xi gently touched her small cheeks as he guessed, ‘when will the little kiddo say that she doesn’t want to attend kindergarten anymore…’

Chapter 34: Zhao Yuan

Translator: Cold Love

Chapter 34: Zhao Yuan

Zhao Yuan was discharged from the hospital.

After breaking 8 of his ribs, he would need about more than half a year to recover.

Fortunately, the fractured ribs avoided his internal organs, if not, he would have died on the spot.

Anyways, he got lucky and managed to keep his life.

He could be discharged from the hospital after the doctors performed Intrathoracic fixation on him.

His bones required roughly 6 months to recover and hence, the doctors suggested that he refrained from any strenuous activities within this period.

Upon reaching home, Zhao Yuan tried the new wheelchair that his mother bought for him.

Since his legs were not injured, his daily life would not be impeded.

However, his mother worried that her son might move around too much, causing the support system within his body to collapse. Hence, she decided to buy him a wheelchair.

When he heard that it was father’s orders to stop investigating this matter, Zhao Yuan did not have much of a reaction.

His mother gave him a worried glance and frowned, “Yuan ‘er, what kind of background did the guy that hurt you have.”

“Background?”

Zhao Yuan sneered. Although he looked calm on the surface, an undetectable dark glint flashed across his eyes.

“No background, he’s just a trash that his wife abandoned. Now, he takes care of his child at home all day…”

Zhao Yuan touched his chest as he softly laughed, “Judging from his kick, it looks like I have underestimated him.”

“No background? Shouldn’t be ah, then why did the boss of  ZhongHai Ocean group protect him?”

Zhao Yuan shook his head as he expressed his confusion, “I’m so sure either, but I will send people to investigate it.”

“Yuan ‘er, we cannot just end it like that!”

“I know.”

The woman still wanted to say something, however, Zhao Yuan waved his hand and said, “Mom, you don’t have to care about this, I have my own ways to deal with this.”

 …

Zhao Yuan gave Li Xiu Wen a call, requesting a meet up.

That day, it was Li Xiu Wen who sent Zhao Yuan to the hospital, hence, he was extremely clear about Zhao Yuan’s circumstances.

New spread like wildfire within the circle, thus, Li Xiu Wen could guess the reason why the police did not arrest anyone was that the Zhao family did not wish to investigate further.

Now that he suddenly received a call from Zhao Yuan, Li Xiu Wen’s first reaction was…

Zhao Yuan was ready for revenge.

Although he doesn’t want to be involved in this, regardless, he was friends with Zhao Yuan. Moreover, Zhao Yuan was his junior, making him harder to reject Zhao Yuan’s request.

Zhao Yuan sent him an address. It was an extremely luxurious private club.

Upon entering the room, Li Xiu Wen saw Zhao Yuan sitting on a wheelchair, which gave him a fright as he asked, “Young master Yuan, are you alright?”

“Big brother Li? Come, come, please take a seat.”

After ushering Li Xiu Wen to take a seat, Zhao Yuan smiled, “8 of my ribs were broken, and the doctors performed Intrathoracic fixation. My leg is fine. It’s just that my injuries might be affected when I swing my arms while walking. It will be fine after 2 days.”

“That’s good, that’s good,” Li Xiu Wen dryly laughed and did not continue.

Zhao Yuan was not bothered by it and carried on, “Big brother Li, I believe that you know my temper, I’m reckless when I do things. When I was suddenly beaten up by him, I found it difficult to let this slide.”

Li Xiu Wen nodded and objectively said, “It’s just a slight disagreement, and yet that Chen Xi dealt such a heavy blow . It was indeed slightly overbearing.”

“Slightly overbearing?”

Zhao Yuan shook his head as his attitude took a sudden turn, his every word articulated clearly, “ Big brother Li, do you know? He almost took my life.”

Li Xiu Wen hesitated for a while but still remained silent.

Since it was a matter of life and death, this feud was naturally not that simple anymore.

However, since it was not related to him in any way, Li Xiu Wen could not make any opinions on this matter.

The room quieted down.

Zhao Yuan took a sip of tea and casually asked, “Big brother Li, I heard that you have been chasing Lin Xuan for a long time?”

Li Xiu Wen’s face turned a shade darker.

Is Zhao Yuan insane?

Who in Zhong Hai did not know that Lin Xuan was the girl of his dreams; only exclusive to him.

Is Zhao Yuan turning against him?

Hence, Li XIu Wen stared at Zhao Yuan as he unhappily emphasized, “Lin Xuan is the woman I have chosen.”

“I know, of course I know.”

Zhao Yuan exploded into bouts of laughter, indicating Li Xiu Wen to calm down, as he continued, “I know big brother Li has been chasing her for a few years and yet still could not get her. Thus, as a brother, I would like to help you out…”

“What in the world are you trying to do?” Li Xiu Wen frowned.

Zhao Yuan giggled as he pointed upwards and said, “I’ve left a room for you upstairs. Miss Lin Xuan will be coming over later…”

“Fuck!”

Li Xiu Wen stood up from the sofa, infuriated. He pointed at Zhao Yuan as he shouted, “I warn you, better not fool around. If you dare touch Lin Xuan, I won’t let you off.”

Zhao Yuan was stunned upon hearing this.

This boss Li has feelings for her?

Countless women dreamt of going to bed with boss Li, the head of Wen Mao group.

Zhao Yuan thought that Li Xiu Wen wanted to play hide and seek with Lin Xuan and thus dragged things out for so long.

Who knew that Li Xiu Wen had fallen in love.

It was not that Zhao Yuan was being ridiculous. It’s just that the men in their circle had never been serious about a relationship.

He did not think that Lin Xuan took up so much of Li Xiu Wen’s heart.

Looks like he has misjudged it…

Before Li Xiu Wen could explode in fury, Zhao Yuan immediately smiled as he appeased him,”It’s just a joke, just a joke. Since big brother Li has spoken, how do I dare to touch Lin Xuan? I will not offend you just because of a woman.”

“You better.”

Li Xiu Wen humphed as he dropped his pleasantries, “I still have work to do in the office. Young master Yuan, you can play by yourself.”

After that, Li Xiu Wen left with his coat on his shoulder.

After Li Xiu Wen left, Zhao Yuan quietly sat on his wheelchair as he pondered about something.

After a while, he picked up the phone by his side.

He dialed a contact as he ordered, “Do it.”

When he placed down his phone, his gaze wandered to a female receptionist wearing a cheongsam standing at the door.

“You, come over here.”

The woman wearing cheongsam heard Zhao Yuan’s voice and briskly walked to his side and asked with a slightly lowered back, “Mr Zhao, how can I help you?”

Zhao Yuan looked at her pretty face and her voluptuous body and nodded with a satisfied look.

Next, under the bewildered gaze of the woman, he pointed at his groin.

The woman wearing cheongsam was stunned but she immediately recovered and understood Zhao Yuan’s meaning. She immediately replied, “Mr Zhao, there’s professional prostitutes upstairs to provide you with the service.”

“I want you.”

“I’m sorry, I…”

“Hundred thousand.”

A disturbing sound echoed from the room.

Zhao Yuan looked at the woman kneeling in front of him with satisfaction.

Suddenly, he grabbed her head with both of his hands as he forced her down.

The woman started to gag as she desperately attempted to leave her head, however, Zhao Yuan could not be bothered about it.

A vicious look could be seen on his face as he murmured to himself, “You think you are something with martial arts? Come, I will slowly play with you…”

Chapter 33: Kindergarten

Translator: Cold Love

Chapter 33: Kindergarten

During lunch, Chen Xi and Aunty Zhang carefully discussed the issue of Nian Nian attending kindergarten.

He does not understand why his child wants to attend kindergarten when all the other children refuse to go…

In order to respect the little kiddo’s decision and at the same time, to lessen Aunty Zhang’s worries, Chen Xi went out after dinner to inspect the neighborhood kindergartens.

Near Kang Ju District, there was a public kindergarten. Although Nian Nian was under the district’s charge, Aunty Zhang did not even consider sending Nian Nian to kindergarten before and hence, she has missed the registration period.

Furthermore, public kindergarten had an extremely limited intake quota. Even if Nian Nian has registered, there was still a chance that she might not even get in.

Hence, Chen Xi was left with only one option. That was to send Nian Nian to a private kindergarten.

Private kindergarten was not exactly better than public kindergarten. Other than the costly school fees, there were often news on teachers abusing the children.

Thinking up till here, Chen Xi felt slightly uncomfortable.

He could not imagine what he would do if Nian Nian was abused in the kindergarten.

Once he thought of abuse, he couldn’t help but think of those Korean movies that he had watched, such as, [So-won], [Don’t Cry Mommy], [Silenced]. He could not get over it even after the movie had finished.

Thinking of the adorable So-won, he felt that Nian Nian would be as cute as her in 2 years time.

Chen Xi thoughts became more and more ridiculous. However, when he thought of the few scenes in the movie, he became slightly agitated and cursed, “Fuck! I almost forgot. I will prepare some protection spells for Nian Nian later.”

Perhaps, this was how every other father felt at some point.

This was especially so amongst fathers with daughters. They would be able to conjure up all sorts of possibilities.

Daughters are like angels to their father, they are the most adorable existence in the world.

Chen Xi would not allow anyone to hurt Nian Nian.

Absolutely Not!

As each generation improves, Chen Xi recalled that he did not attend kindergarten when he was young. Everyday, he would play with his friends; They would either stick spiderwebs to the branches and catch cicadas and crickets or bathe in the river. Occasionally, they would steal corn and potatoes to roast from their neighbor Bo’s yard .

The people then were very crude, it was not as particular as now, where there be double language education in kindergarten.

As for those wealthy families, they were already deciding whether their kids should attend IB or AP courses. Even when their children did not want to study overseas, they had already decided that they must study overseas when they grow up.

Recently, the nation has released a ‘Two child’ policy. This caused the preschool education market to become a ‘vast blue sea’, numerous education organizations emerged like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. It ranged from a low-end kindergarten in a small district to famous overseas schools with a few hundred years of history, the options were abundant.

He went into an internet cafe and surfed the internet. After a while, he chose a private kindergarten that was not too far from Kang Ju District.

The overall conditions of the kindergarten were not bad and they also have a good reputation. With all sorts of miscellaneous fees, the monthly fee was about ¥3000.

Chen Xi had two reasons not to consider the elite kindergartens with fees of ¥200,000 per year.

Firstly, the registration period was over. For the elite kindergartens, one would normally need to register one year prior. Next, their names would be put into the Waiting-List. After getting their queue number, they would have to go through an interview. The whole process was extremely troublesome.

Secondly, Chen Xi guessed that Nian Nian would not be willing to stay in kindergarten for long.

Based on his careful observations for the past few days, Chen Xi suspected that it was due to the fact that Aunty Zhang seldom brought Nian Nian out to play, hence, she would be very interested in other children’s world.

Thus, Chen Xi planned to let Nian Nian try out first. If she liked it, he would use connections to send her to the best.

If she doesn’t like it, then he would teach her.

Anyways, Chen Xi did not have any hobbies. Raising his daughter has become his biggest hobby…

After deciding on a school, Chen Xi went home and told the little kiddo. She happily clapped her hands,”I’m going to kindergarten! I’m going to kindergarten!”

Due to the excitement, the little kiddo only fell asleep at 10:30pm. Under the double threats from Chen Xi and Aunty Zhang, the little kiddo could only obediently climbed lie on her bed.

The next morning, Aunty Zhang helped the little kiddo changed into a new white dress.

Adorned in a new dress and two pony tails, for the first time ever, the little kiddo refused to be carried by Chen Xi. Instead, she energetically hopped out.

The kindergarten was not too far. The total walking time from Kang Ju District to the kindergarten was about ten minutes.

After explaining the situation to the security guard, Chen Xi carried Nian Nian to the principal’s office.

After knowing that Nian Nian wanted to join the school midway through, the principal immediately became extremely welcoming. However, reading between the lines, he needed Chen Xi to pay an extra school construction fee…

Chen Xi roughly understood the ways of a private kindergarten. Hence, he skipped the unnecessary talk and directly swiped his card, paying for the management fees, construction fees, meal expenses and so on.

After swiping, close to ¥20,000 was gone.

This kindergarten was not so particular. Once Chen Xi paid the school fees, the principal immediately called over a woman. She was about 30 years old and gave off a gentle and kind vibe.

Her surname was Wang and she would be Nian Nian’s homeroom teacher in the future.

Teacher Wang brought the father and daughter pair to the classroom. However, after seeing about twenty plus students who were about her age seating inside the classroom, she instantly became quite timid.

She was so excited a few moments ago, but now, she was like a tomato that had foam all over it, she timidly burrowed herself into Chen Xi’s chest.

“Papa, I don’t want to go to kindergarten anymore…”

Seeing this, Chen Xi did not know whether to laugh or cry.

This silly child is still scared of strangers.

However, they were already at this stage. No matter how much Chen Xi dote on her, he knew that he could not allow her to as she pleased.

Everyone would have to experience this at some point in their lives. Since she was already here, she should bravely enter. He could not let her develop a habit of retreating before trying.

“Nian Nian be good. There’s so many little friends in the class. They will play with you, just follow teacher Wang in.”

“No, I don’t want. I’m scared…”

The little kiddo pouted, she was on the verge of crying.

Chen Xi had no more ideas and could only look at teacher Wang.

Teacher Wang was used to this type of scene. The children in this class have to cry for half a day whenever they come. Cases like Nian Nian was counted as lucky.

“Nian Nian be good. Come, teacher will bring you in. Don’t be scared, we will be friends soon.”

Teacher Wang indicated Chen Xi to pass Nian Nian to her.

Chen Xi was about to hand over Nian Nian to her when the little kiddo tightly hugged his neck and cried, “Papa don’t go! Papa don’t go!”

“Nian Nian, don’t be scared. Papa won’t go, I will wait for you outside. Why don’t you go in and play with the other kids?”

Teacher Wang wanted to carry Nian Nian but no matter what, the little kiddo hang tightly onto Chen Xi and refused to come down.

Her head rested on Chen Xi’s shoulders, and without saying a word, she opened her mouth and wailed.

Seeing this, teacher Wang indicated Chen Xi to comfort her. Hence, Chen Xi immediately said, “Papa won’t go, I will wait for you at the gate. Nian Nian, you have to listen and respect the teacher, okay?”

“Okay okay, Nian Nian don’t cry. You won’t look pretty if you cry.”

“You see, the rest of the kids are laughing at you.”

“Relax, papa won’t go. Papa will be here waiting for you. Papa will bring you home for dinner after school.”

“If you keep crying, papa will tell grandma that Nian Nian cried at the kindergarten today and the rest of the kids laughed at her.”

“Nian Nian, you are a good girl. Don’t cry, don’t cry…”

After a moment of comforting, the little kiddo reluctantly came down from her father’s shoulder.

Taking the opportunity, teacher Wang dragged and coed the little kiddo into the classroom.

After Nian Nian went in, Chen Xi did not leave but instead stood at the corridor and silently watched the little kiddo.

The pitiful little kiddo sat in her seat, her movement was a bit stiff. However, the other kids were quite friendly towards her.

Under the teacher’s instructions, the kids in the room surrounded their new classmate and comfort her.

After getting used to it, the little kiddo glanced back and saw Chen Xi was still there. She finally relaxed and slowly started to play with the other kids.

Chen Xi stood outside for a long time.

Finally, a teacher could not endure it any longer and came out to remind Chen Xi that it was best for a parent not to loiter in the school yard. It was then did Chen Xi finally leave the school grounds.

To be fair, even as a father, he could not bear to part with his daughter.

Although his child was only attending kindergarten and will be back at night for dinner.

Chen Xi felt that his heart was slightly empty, this feeling was so weird…

Chapter 32: Life

Chapter 32: Life

Next day.

The next morning, Chen Xi went straight to the bank with Nian Nian with the excuse of going out to buy stuff.

Yesterday, before he left, Ning Qiu Tong gave him a card with 100,000¥. That was his reward.

The previous 2 things that he had asked the Ning family for help were considered as favors.

Chen Xi pondered if he will have the chance to return the favor, while the Ning family have confidence in Chen Xi’s ability to return the favor.

Hence, both sides silently agreed that curing Ning Zhong Guo was purely just a deal.

Favors could be returned slowly while rewards must be settled right there and then.

Hence, when Chen Xi accepted the bank card, he did not feel that it was inappropriate.

After all, the current him was so poor that ‘a few jingles could be heard’.

Initially, he wanted to make another bank card for Aunty Zhang and transfer ¥50,000 into it.

However, the banker regretfully informed Chen Xi, that everyone could only apply for one bank card at each bank.

Hence, he could only take out ¥60,000 in cash; Leaving ¥10,000 for daily expenses and giving the rest to Aunty Zhang.

After reaching home, Aunty Zhang was curious why Chen Xi had not gone to work even when it’s past 10am.

Hence, Chen Xi timely responded with his own thoughts.

“Aunty Zhang, I met with an old schoolmate yesterday. When he just started a business, he borrowed ¥100,000 from me and now, he has returned it to me with interest. Here’s¥ 50,000, you just take it first…”

Looking at the thick stack of notes in Chen Xi’s hand, Aunty Zhang was thoroughly shocked.

She immediately pushed his hand away and anxiously said, “What nonsense are you saying? Why didn’t you save it in a bank? Are you trying to boast about your wealth? I don’t need this money. Why don’t you save it in a bank lest you lose it!”

When drawing out the money, Chen Xi had already guessed Aunty Zhang’s reaction. He knew that it was actually not that hard to pass the money to Aunty Zhang, hence, he earnestly stated out the reasons on why she should accept.

Honestly, this action of pushing the money back and forth made Chen Xi felt quite awkward, if possible, he would not like to do this.

After all, Aunty Zhang had sacrificed many things for Chen Xi’s family all these years.

Now that he wanted to give money to Aunty Zhang, she definitely would not accept.

One side wanted to give while the other side refused to accept, causing quite a commotion.

This lasted for a full ten minutes. No matter what Aunty Zhang said, she was not able to dissuade Chen Xi.

Finally, Aunty Zhang only yielded when the little kiddo ran in and urged grandma to keep the money. Aunty Zhang reluctantly kept the ¥50,000 and sighed, “Okay then. I will keep the ¥50,000 with me. When you need money, just let me know.”

“Alright, Aunty Zhang just relax. I still have ¥50,000 here, so please don’t worry. Since I’m back, I will naturally support this whole family and give Nian Nian a relatively healthy growing environment.”

“That’s good, that’s good…”

Holding the thick stack of notes, Aunty Zhang felt a bit emotional.

Once Aunty Zhang brought the money back into her room, Chen Xi turned on the TV and accompanied the little kiddo to watch cartoons.

He tilted his head and faced Aunty Zhang’s room, “Oh right Aunty Zhang, that job, I have already quit…”

Aunty Zhang went into a panic attack and instantly asked, “What happened? Aren’t you doing quite well? I felt that it suited you, why did you quit all of a sudden.”

“It’s like this…earlier you told me that you were going to take care of your granddaughter after New Year. Hence, I was thinking, since I’m left with ¥50,000, I can start a small business while taking care of the child…”

Chen Xi worriedly glanced at Aunty Zhang and immediate explained, “I’m not chasing you away. It’s just that after all these years, you didn’t go back because of Nian Nian, I’m sure your family members have some objections…you have sacrificed too much Nian Nian and I. Since I’m already back, I should not owe you any longer and find a way to repay your kindness…”

Aunty Zhang sighed with a heavy heart, “It’s true, It’s been a long time since I last went home. My granddaughter is almost a year old. My son and his wife have been calling me everyday, urging me to go home…”

“Then you should go back. I will often bring Nian Nian to see you.”

After listening to Chen Xi, Aunty Zhang nodded but immediately shook her head after that, “I am just a little worried…”

She looked at Chen Xi and gravely said, “Chen Xi ah, you are not young anymore. As a grown man, you can’t be taking care of the kid at home everyday. How will people react if word gets out? This is Ying Ying is also to be blamed. Once you left, five years have passed. I bet she will also be gone for five years or so. How can the parents act like this?”

Chen Xi could not help but gave a bitter smile.

Aunty Zhang pondered for a while and continued, “How about this? I will stay for a few more days. In these past few days, you will be doing the groceries, cooking and laundry. Treat it as a on-the-job training, it will also give me a sense of assurance.”

“Okay! Be prepared to be amazed by my culinary skills.”

…..

Chen Xi was in-charge of lunch. He cooked three side dishes and a tomato egg soup.

To be honest, his dishes were very average. At the very least, it was far from Aunty Zhang’s skills.(TN: I guess he can’t be bothered about learning cooking in that 500 years)

However, this was the first time the little kiddo had tasted papa’s dishes. She carried a small bowl, and while waving a small spoon in one hand, she shouted, “Papa’s cooking is so nice!”

While saying that, she repeatedly ate a few spoons of rice mixed with the egg soup. She gave Chen Xi plenty of face.

However, Chen Xi was slightly unhappy about his cooking, it did not reach his expectations.

However, he thought about it in another way, it was still acceptable.

After all, he had not cooked for a few hundred years, he was still not used to it. It was already not bad if he could make the dish not so salty and bland…(TN: I guessed it…)

After lunch, Aunty Zhang happily carried the little kiddo while watching TV programmes and did not keep Chen Xi out of the kitchen like last time.

Chen Xi kept the bowls and utensils into the kitchen and wiped the table with a cloth. Next, he washed the dishes and wiped the kitchen stove.

After tidying up the kitchen, he still had to clean the tables and windows, sweep and mop the floor, wash the little kiddo’s dirty clothes. Some of her clothes were stained with too much oil and he could only hand wash it with soap.

After finishing everything, it was almost 3pm.

Aunty Zhang decided to take a small nap. Thus, under the reluctant complains of the little kiddo, Chen Xi off the TV and recited a poem with her.

What is life?

This is life.

Those singles could just throw the meal box into a trash bag and once the trash bag has filled to the brim, they could just use a little bit of effort to throw it into a communal bin.

They only have to clean their room once every half a month, and change their blankets once every one to three months.

This is also a way of life, but this is not a life a father should have.

The child is not a toy, he can move, run and think.

Does Chen Xi really lacked money?

Even if Aunty Zhang left, how much more could he spend on hiring a nanny.

Money is able to solve a lot of problems, but it can never buy back a genuinely healthy growing environment for a child.

Since Ying Ying was not here, then all he had to do was to take on the responsibilities of both parents.

He would do his best to fulfill his responsibilities, providing a blissful environment for his daughter.

This was also the only request Chen Xi had for himself.

TN: Hi. So…I’m back and alive. Thanks for the concern you guys have shown. I will try to keep a consistent release. Try.

Chapter 31: Betray Me

Small garden, a pavilion.

Stone tables, a zither.

White clothes, a woman.

The woman was playing the zither. That clear and smooth zither sound was comparable to a river flow, easing one’s heart.

A light wind gently swept passed, carrying with it the fragrance of flowers. The area was filled with a dense mist.

Her slim and white fingers danced on the zither strings, exactly whose heartstrings did the strings touched?

A soft ‘ga zhi’ sounded out.

Far away, the large door was slowly pushed open.

In that instant, her white robe fluttered in the wind and the zither sound surged, as if it wanted to intertwine with the wind currents within the precipice, as the sound resounded for quite a while.

Followed closely, her actions suddenly slowed down. The zither sound became elegantly suave with a tinge of sorrow, like the aroma of osmanthus flowers.

A bout of soft footsteps sounded out, however, that woman did not raise her head. Eventually, that person walked to her side.

“Elder Sister is so spirited…”

That person who walked in was gorgeous woman adorned in a yellow cheong sam that was filled with swan patterns. Although she did not put on any cosmetics, her face was extremely exquisite, leaving no room for one to nitpick at.

The white robed woman stopped her actions as she raised her head and plainly smiled, “Yu Qing, how come you are here?”

“I haven’t seen Elder Sister for so long, hence, I’ve brought a piece of good news for Elder Sister.”

“Good news?”

“That person is back, and he’s searching for you everywhere. He even created an uproar a few days ago because of you. Do you want to know…”

The white robed woman was dazed for a while, however, she immediately recovered.

While lowering her head, she speedily said, “Enough, I don’t want to hear.”

Listening to her tone, it seemed like she was slightly unhappy.

The yellow cheong sam woman named Yu Qing was taken back for a moment. She did not expect this kind of reaction from her sister.

Hence, she bent slightly forward and carefully asked, “Elder Sister, you don’t miss him?”

“Miss him? I sacrificed so much for him and yet, he betrayed me. Why would I still miss him? Ever since the day he left, I have already decided, in this life, I never want to see him again!”

The more she thought about it, the angrier the white robed woman got. Without waiting for the yellow cheong sam woman to speak, she continued, “Yu Qing, you go back. My mood is not good today, I would like to be left alone.”

The yellow cheong sam woman frowned as she attempted to spot anything unusual on the white robed woman.

However, the white robed woman’s head was lowered, so she could not see her expression.

After hesitating for a while, the yellow cheong sam woman smiled and gently said, “Alright then, please rest well Elder Sister. I will be taking my leave.”

After that, she turned around and returned down the path that she came from.

A soft ‘ga zhi’ sounded out again.

The large door had been closed once again.

The white robed woman finally raised her head and glanced at the large door.

Since when was there fury on her face, there was only confusion and sorrow.

She glanced sideways at the zither, her brows lowered.

Suddenly, a crystal-like teardrop slowly rolled down the corner of her eyes.

… … …

… … …

Early next morning.

Upon entering the office, Lin Xuan’s phone rang.

She looked at her phone and saw that it was a message from Wang Lu.

“Xuan Xuan, did you watch the news yesterday? Is it because of Chen Xi? He’s so f*cking formidable!”

Lin Xuan paused for a while before she swiftly replied, “Not sure. But I think it’s Chen Xi’s doing, after all, he is still finding Ying Ying.”

“Definitely! I thought that Chen Xi was not that well-off these few years. Who would have thought that the silent bird amazed the world with just one cry, he’s so f*cking OP. My friend circle even maxed out. I left a message saying Qin Ruo Ying was my classmate, however not even one of them believed me. Ah! This is angering this boss to death!”

Lin Xuan typed out a sentence. However, after thinking for a while, she pressed the delete button and re-typed, “What about Zhao Yuan? How is his condition now?

Wang Lu seemed to be extremely free, within seconds, she replied, “He’s still hospitalized. However, listening to Li Xiu Wen, he said that Zhao Yuan’s family refused to investigate the matter. However, I’m not really clear about the details.”

“Refuse to investigate?”

Lin Xuan sat down on her seat, no one knew what she was thinking of while holding her phone.

Wang Lu waited for a while and when she saw that Lin Xuan did not reply, she continued to send a message, “Xuan Xuan, what is Chen Xi working as? I heard that even if you have money, the ad space on Fu Cheng building will not be allocated to you. For Chen Xi to be able to book the whole night, it must not be that simple right?

Her phone vibrated, waking Lin Xuan from her messy thoughts.

“I only he has been taking care of his child at home recently, as for what he does in detail, I have no clue.”

“Got to work, talk to you later.”

2 messages all at once.

After sending the message, Lin Xuan sat in front of her office desk and thoughtfully gazed out the window.

Her office was situated at quite a good spot, it was at the 23rd floor of the turning corner of the building. She could overlook the entire Dian river and Zhong Shan street when standing at the window.

… … …

Recalling back to last night.

Not long after ‘Qin Ruo Ying’ these few words were lit up, Lin Xuan had already came before Fu Cheng building.

She raised her head and looking at the piercing LED lights, she carefully read every single word on it.

Although she was not sure if this was caused by Chen Xi, Lin Xuan had already subconsciously determined that only Chen Xi would do such a thing.

Some things are able to touch one’s heart.

Hence, even if the person of concern was not them, or even if the main characters of the ad were not the Chen Xi and Qin Ruo Ying that she knew, Lin Xuan could not help but be moved to tears.

On the other side of Dian river.

Chen Xi sat down on the bench, which he sat there for several hours.

Suddenly, an urgent ringtone sounded, interrupting him from his chaotic thoughts.

Looking at the caller, it was from Aunty Zhang.

Chen Xi then noticed that the time was already at 9pm.

As for him, he had sat there for 6 solid hours.

Due to him being too absorbed in his own thoughts, he had long forgotten that he had told Aunty Zhang that he would be coming home for dinner.

“Hello? Aunty Zhang?”

Chen Xi immediately connected the call.

However, Aunty Zhang’s voice did not come from the other side and instead, it was the little kiddo’s loud and powerful voice, “PAPA! When are you coming back ah?”

When he heard his daughter’s sweet voice, Chen Xi immediately smiled and answered, “Now. Papa has already gotten off work. I will go home now.”

“Then I will wait for you at home. Papa faster!”

“Ok!”

“Papa run!”

“Ok, ok, ok!”

“Horsey run faster! Go! Go! Go, go, go!” The little kiddo started playing with Chen Xi on the phone.

Hence, Chen Xi immediately mimicked the sound of a horse and answered, “Neigh, neigh, neigh…”

The little kiddo hugged the phone as she burst into bouts of laughter. However, Aunty Zhang came and took over the phone. She then instructed Chen Xi, “Don’t listen to the words of this silly child. Chen Xi, watch the roads when you are crossing, be careful. You haven’t eat yet right? I will heat up the dinner now, it should be done by the time you return…”

“Okay Aunty Zhang. Sorry for the trouble.”

“Stop standing on ceremony with me. Be careful on your way home and don’t rush. We will wait for you.”

TN: That’s all guys! I might release one last chapter before I enlist. It’s a MIGHT. Anyways, I just want to thank you so much for bearing with me. I know how it feels to wait for a chapter.

Chapter 30: Advertisement

Based on Chen Xi’s speculations, he was sure that the Ning family was quite powerful in Zhong Hai.

Otherwise, this matter regarding Zhao Yuan wouldn’t be suppressed so easily.

Hence, he had an idea.

Perhaps, he could find Ying Ying via the help of the Ning family.

After receiving Niu Qiu Tong’s assuring reply, Chen Xi boarded the car with an ‘I just casually won a lottery ticket’ expression.

Although he knew that the chance of finding her was slim, he still held onto the thin strand of hope.

If he he wins, it will be a jackpot.

If not, then he can only continue to slowly search…

The car steadily drove out of Jin Cheng Court.

However, Chen Xi suddenly came to a realization. There was still some time left before getting off work.

If he went back this early, Aunty Zhang might become suspicious again.

In order to maintain the good image in Aunty Zhang’s eyes, Chen Xi thought for a while before asking the driver to send him to Zhong Shan street.

Zhong Shan street, also known as the origin of this modern city, Zhong Hai. In the beginning of the previous century, Zhong Shan street had become a financial trade center in all of China and it has been seen as a construct and symbol of Zhong Hai’s history.

Along this street stood 52 classical Fu Xing building built during the previous century, which had a stark contrast with the modern day skyscrapers on the other side of the Dian river.

After instructing the driver to return back, Chen Xi got off the car and came to side of Dian river.

Leaning on the fence, Chen Xi enjoyed the soft caress of the sea wind.

Facing directly opposite him was the Star hotel that he had patronized a few days ago.

Chen Xi only had 1 reason to come here.

This was the place where he confessed his love to Ying Ying.

He remembered that year, a boy and a girl walked side by side.

Suddenly, the girl sped up and like a weightless butterfly, she flew forward with a smile.

The boy was caught unprepared and immediately chased forward.

However, the girl placed her hands behind her back and like a swallow, she gently turned around

She did not stop and as she moved backwards, she looked at the boy and gave a sincere laugh, “At this time, shouldn’t you say something to me?”

Her smile was like a flower as the wind blew on her long black hair. Her one-piece white skirt gently fluttered in the wind and the sunlight cascaded upon her, that blissful and beautiful moment was enough to make the world lose its color.

In that moment, the boy was stunned.

The girl smiled as she retreated. From the looks of it, she was about to disappear among the crowd. It was then did the the boy recover.

He cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted with all his might, “QIN RUO YING! I LIKE YOU!”

That day, at Zhong Shan street, it was also as crowded as now.

The boy did not know where he got his courage from, to be able to say out the little secret hidden deep in his heart at this kind of place.

There was no romantic display nor any eye-catching confession banner, there wasn’t even a banquet of flowers. There was only a youth sudden shout of confession, which caused quite a bit of commotion.

The crowd automatically moved to the 2 sides. On this crowded Zhong Shan street, an empty space temporarily appeared.

Then, under the gazes of anticipation of the masses, the boy sprinted towards the girl.

In return, he got a sweet kiss from a girl.

Thinking back to the feeling of that kiss, Chen Xi laughed dumbly to himself as he leaned against the fence.

In the blink of an eye, a few years had passed. However, that feeling was still as new as ever, deeply etched into his mind.

Chen Xi’s gaze wandered the opposite side of the Dian river.

Suddenly, his gaze swept over to the Fu Cheng building beside Star hotel.

Followed closely, an idea emerged in his head.

Next, he quickly took out his phone and contacted Ning Zhong Guo, “Mr Ning, can you help me with another thing…”

… … …

Fu Cheng building was the only building that was closest to Dian river and it was a 5A first class office building with a magnificent view.

This building was extremely famous in Zhong Hai and even in China. It was only because of his location, but because of…

The entire building was golden in color.

The golden building was erected on the bank of Dian river. Whenever the sky was clear, the light rays from the sun would cause the whole building to radiate an eye catching golden shine. It was stood out amongst the other skyscrapers.

If it was only due to its golden appearance, it was still not enough for it to be famous throughout the country.

The real reason why it was famous was because of its title, Earth’s largest LED advertisement.

Indeed, the interiors of Fu Cheng building were installed with countless LEDs.

Whenever night approached, Fu Cheng building would on the LEDs. Passer-bys would be able to see the world’s largest advertisement, with a width of 57m and a height of 63m and an area of 3591 m².

Of course, in order to install such a large advertisement board, the developers had to comply by the regulations of the National Outdoor Advertisement Registration Management. Hence, Fu Cheng building had to allow public advertisements and commercial advertisements to take turns occupying the advertisement space.

Because of this, the exposure duration of commercial advertisements at Fu Cheng building was very limited.

There were 2 ways to display the advertisements. One was everyday once, every exposure would be 15 seconds, which would continue for 30 days straight. The cost was 640,000¥.

The second type was an exposure of 1 hour straight. The cost was also 640,000¥.

Today was a normal day, it wasn’t a weekend nor was it a holiday.

However, Zhong Shan Street was too popular, hence even during off season, the crowd flow at Zhong Shan street was around 500,000 everyday.

Night dawned as the street lamps brightened up the area.

As usual, Fu Cheng building lit up its LED advertisement.

However, the content of the advertisement was a bit weird. There was only a string of strange words.

[Qin Ruo Ying, I am back, I am searching for you]

11 words, 3 punctuations.

One name, and a sentence with no head or tail.

Those people who saw the advertisement would ransack their brain as they tried to recall which celebrity was named Qin Ruo Ying.

From the first to the last, ranging from female celebrities to broadcasters, there seemed to be no one called Qin Ruo Ying.

However, since she was not a celebrity, then why use such an eye-catching method.

What does this sentence even means?

Who is Qin Ruo Ying?

Who in the world is ‘I’?

Fu Cheng building received a lot of commercial advertisements, the effects of every advertisement was proportional to its price.

However, this time, even the advertisement department of Fu Cheng building would not have thought that this advertisement, which was forcefully included by the higher ups, would have cause such a massive stir on the internet.

This advertisement was shared on countless social media platforms, such as Wei bo, forums, friend circles, independent social media and even on some side news.

Who is Qin Ruo Ying?

Who is finding her?

Is it another eye-catching hype?

重新掀起一场类似于当年‘贾君鹏,你妈妈喊你回家吃饭’的网络恶搞?
After several shares and discussions, people started to point out that it might be an internet prank, similar to that phrase that year, ‘Jia Jun Peng, your mother is calling you to go home to eat dinner’.

This ‘un-commercial advertisement like’ commercial advertisement easily captivated the curiosity of the masses with just a sentence.

Countless girls immediately came to the scene and took a selfie with the LEDs of Fu Cheng building. Under the picture, they wrote: Whoever can write my name there, I will bear his child!

Instantly, a strong thunderstorm swept across the internet, countless girl with the same name as Qin Ruo Ying immediately received calls from everyone.

Within an hour, a #FindingQinRuoYing appeared on Wei bo.

At 10pm, #WhoIsQinRuoYing entered the trending topics on Wei bo’s search bar.

Although the position was slightly at the back, however, based on the look of it, it might reach no.1 as time goes by.

Several philosophers and punsters unleashed their powers, resulting in all sorts of guesses and mysterious dramas…

As for the instigator Chen Xi, he sat on a chair near the Dian river, gazing at the radiating words in a daze.

Ying Ying, I really miss you…

Chapter 29: Martial Arts

Translator: Cold Love

Chapter 29: Martial Arts

Martial Arts are separated into 3 realms respectively: Bright Energy, Hidden Energy, Transformation Energy.

Bright Energy, the first and initial realm in Martial Arts.

This realm consists of 3 conjunctions, namely, the shoulders and hips conjunction, elbows and knees conjunction and finally, the hands and feet conjunction.

Basically, the 3 conjunctions required Martial Artists to be able to perfectly control their own body.

Once a punch was thrown, the entire muscles and tendons in one’s body were able to combine their strength. A casual punch was able to exert one’s full strength.

At the peak of Bright Energy realm, Martial Artists would be able to create a ‘pa’ sound when they threw a punch upon gathering their strength. However, the sound did not originate from the popping of joints, but the breaking of the sound barrier due to the speed of the punch.

When one speedily waved a wooden stick in the air, there would be waves of sound, indicating the breaking of the sound barrier. ‘A thousand gold is difficult to buy a sound’, this was the Dao of Martial Arts for the peak of Bright Energy realm.

Hidden Energy, the second realm of Martial Arts.

This realm consists of 3 interiors, the combination of heart and will, the combination of will and qi, and the combination of Qi and strength.

After stepping into this realm, Martial Artists would have to gradually build up and control the Martial Qi.

What exactly is Qi?

One’s body would generate heat while exercising. The heat would cause one to sweat and eventually, the heat within the body would permeate out along with the beads of sweat.

The cloud of hot air that followed the secretion of sweat contained the Qi that arose from the hard work of Martial Artists.

Hence, Bright Energy requires one to control their tendons and muscles whereas Hidden Energy focuses more on controlling their pores.

The human body is like an empty wine bottle, filled with holes.Only when the holes are covered could it contain matter. When the pores are closed, the heat would be trapped within the body and at the same time, securely contain the Qi within.

Hence, when Hidden Energy Experts fought, they had to ensure that their body pores were tightly close and only open the pores on their hands, gathering the Qi. This is the so called 3 interiors, the combination of Qi and strength.

When they punch out, their entire strength and the waves of Qi erupted with exploding strength, easily exceeding the limits of the normal human strength.

The more one accumulates Qi, the stronger one gets.

This is the true essence of Hidden Energy.

Experts at the peak of Hidden Energy realm were able to use Qi to negate the attacks of their enemies or strike back, even if they stood unmoving.

Once the strength flowed throughout their entire body, the Qi would be able to burst forth from any part that they willed. They have reached the ‘A feather nor a fly is able to land’ realm.

Even if a mosquito lands on their shoulder, they would be able to shock it to death using the sudden eruption of Qi,

Martial Artists at this realm was titled Transformation Energy!

Above Transformation Energy, was the Grandmaster.

Grandmaster was just a title and not a realm.

Legend has it that the realm above Transformation Energy was a mystery within a mystery.

Since Ning Zhong Guo was not a person from the Martial Arts World, he was not that clear about that realm.
… … …

“I see…”

Chen Xi thoughtfully nodded. No wonder he discovered a faint strand of Qi in Ning Zhong Guo’s dantian.

“That means, if I can disperse the remaining Martial Qi within your body, the illness will be exterminated from the roots?”

“In theory, yes.”

Ning Zhong Guo nodded, confirming Chen Xi’s speculations.

All these years, Ning Zhong Guo had visited countless masters of the Martial Arts World, attempting to find one to cure his illness.

Sadly, however, Ning Zhong Guo was all but a normal person, and that Transformation Energy Expert from the Southern Coastal Provinces was too ruthless. He even used a unique secret technique to force all of his cultivated Martial Qi into Ning Zhong Guo’s dantian, continuously harming his organs. This caused him to suffer an endless torment till death.

It was like using a knife to cut endlessly into Ning Zhong Guo’s organs. Even if he consumed the Life Prolonging pill, it was not able to fully heal him and even continued to deteriorate
.
“Oh, it’s easy if it’s like this.”

Initially, Chen Xi wanted to use pure energy to slowly sort out Ning Zhong Guo’s 5 viscera. However, after listening to Ning Zhong Guo’s description, Chen Xi finally understood the root of his illness.

All he needed to do now was to disperse the Martial Qi…

At the thought of it, Chen Xi send out his palm which came into contact with Ning Zhong Guo’s chest.

As his move was too sudden, Ning Zhong Guo was startled by it and instinctively wanted to block.

When he has recovered, Chen Xi had already retracted his hand.

“It’s done. Now, all you have to do is to consume the medicine professor Xie has prescribed for you. You should be able to recover within half a month.”

“It’s done?”

Ning Zhong Guo was stunned.

His eyes were opened wide as he stared as Chen Xi in disbelief.

Ning Zhong Guo looked as if he had seen a ghost. Instantly, Chen Xi understood that Ning Zhong Guo has labelled him as swindler once again. Hence, he softly sighed and patiently explained, “That strand of Qi was dispersed by me. Try to feel carefully, do you feel a cold sensation continuously flowing out from your dantian?”

“A cold sensation?”

Ning Zhong Guo doubtfully placed his hand on his stomach and sure enough, his lower abdomen was freezing cold.

It felt just like exposing your bare stomach during winter and continuously letting the chilling wind blow on it.

“That strand of Qi sided more towards the Yin aspect. After I dispersed it, it started to dissipate from your dantian. Hence, you will feel that your lower abdomen is slightly freezing. It will be fine after a while.”

Finally, Ning Zhong Guo believed Chen Xi’s words.

However, Ning Zhong Guo still could not wrap his finger around it.

This illness that had troubled him for so many years, were so easily dispelled by Chen Xi.

What did Chen Xi do just now?

It was just a casual palm strike. It even managed to disperse the life-threatening Martial Qi?
Is it possible that, he is a…

Martial Arts Grandmaster?

After thinking about it, Ning Zhong Guo felt that it was quite impossible. Hence, he decided to test the waters once again, “Mr Chen, are you really not from the Martial Arts World? Then how…did you accomplish this?”

He then pointed at his own stomach.

However, Chen Xi did not answer him. He shook his head and said, “That, you don’t have to worry. I have already eliminated the root of the illness. As long as you recuperate according to professor Xie’s instructions, you will naturally become a healthy person once your injury has recovered.”

“Alright, sorry about my lack of manners…”

Although Ning Zhong Guo was still quite curious, but since Chen Xi refused to say, he could only stop asking.

Once the illness has been treated, Chen Xi naturally got up to leave.

Ning Zhong Guo invited Chen Xi to stay for a meal before going, however, he was tactfully rejected by Chen Xi.

Helpless, Ning Zhong Guo could only call Ning Qiu Tong to see Chen Xi out.

After he has recovered, Ning Zhong Guo planned to organize a banquet for Chen Xi, so as to thank his savior, Chen Xi.

Ning Qiu Tong accompanied Chen Xi to the door of the villa and the driver was already waiting for them.

It was still the brand new Maybach S600. Chen Xi glanced back at the vast and grandeur villa and suddenly, he thought of something and quickly asked Ning Qiu Tong, “Can you do me a favour?”

“Father has said it, you are our family’s honorable guest. Whatever you need, just give a request.”

“Help me find a person.”

Ning Qiu Tong instantly nodded and replied, “I know a few people in the city office. Helping you to check a person’s details shouldn’t be a problem. What is the person’s name?”

Hearing that, Chen Xi’s face sparked joy as he said with agitation the name that he yearned day and night.

“Qin Ruo Ying.”

Chapter 28: Origin

The incident regarding Zhao Yuan has been resolved. 。

Although he did not know how Ning Qiu Tong resolved the matter, he relaxed after waiting for 2 days and the police didn’t appear.

Aunty Zhang was suspicious as to why Chen Xi did not go to work these 2 days. Although she was temporary convinced by Chen Xi, she would still have her doubts if Chen Xi continued to stay at home.

Hence, Chen Xi thought for a while before contacting Ning Qiu Tong. He decided to begin the treatment for Ning Zhong Guo and return the favor while he was at it.

Early morning, the driver sent by Ning Xiu Tong was already waiting at the district gate.

The little kiddo knew that Papa was going to work so, she mimicked Aunty Zhang and childishly reminded him, “Papa do a good job and come back early. We will wait for you to have dinner.”

“Nian Nian is so good. Come, give me a kiss.”

Chen Xi pointed at his cheek and only when the little kiddo gave him a kiss did he walk out of the house happily.

After getting into the car, the driver directly brought him to Jin Cheng Court.

However, the treatment he received this time was largely different from the previous occasion.

Once the car came to a halt, Ning Qiu Tong politely opened the car door for Chen Xi.

She still felt somewhat awkward and her face involuntarily redden when Chen Xi gave her a glance.

“Mr Chen, sorry for the trouble.”

To conceal her awkwardness, Ning Qiu Tong slightly shifted her gaze and dare not made eye contact with Chen Xi.

“It’s alright.”

Chen Xi nodded and under Ning Qiu Tong’s lead, he entered the villa once again.

As Ning Zhong Guo was still recovering from the surgery, he could not welcome Chen Xi at the door. Hence, Ning Qiu Tong directly brought him to Ning Zhong Guo’s room.

“Mr Chen, sorry about it. We have eyes but do not see. I hope you don’t mind…”

While speaking, he also wanted to sit up.

However, this move of his has affected the recovering injury. Instantly, his face turned pale and he could not help but let out a stuffy groan.

“Dad, don’t move heedlessly, I’ll help you.” Ning Qiu Tong ran up to Ning Zhong Guo and hastily helped him up.

“It’s fine, you don’t have to be so formal. After all, you guys have helped me too.”

Chen Xi nodded and walked to Ning Zhong Guo. Next, he held onto his wrist and felt his pulse.

Ning Zhong Guo’s condition was truly much better.

That surgery had triggered the hidden illness in his body. However, he consumed the Qi Replenishing pill on time, controlling the hidden danger. Hence, his current condition was looked more optimistic than previously.

“Qiu Tong, you go out first. Dad has something to talk to Mr Chen personally.”

While Chen Xi was measuring Ning Zhong Guo’s pulse, Ning Zhong Guo suddenly asked Ning Qiu Tong to step out for a while.

Though perplexed and somewhat hesitant, Ning Qiu Tong still obediently exited the room.

Evidently, Ning Zhong Guo didn’t want Ning Qiu Tong to know about some things. Hence, after Ning Qiu Tong left, Chen Xi calmly asked, “Mr Ning, who injured you?”

Hearing this, Ning Zhong Guo immediately laughed and sighed, “You found out?”

“Normally, the human body should have the most basic self- repair function. However, after the injury, instead of recovering, your body condition continued to deteriorate. To be able to last till now, you must have taken a medicine that can temporarily suppress the injury, right?”

“Indeed. Fortunately, I met a cultivator. Otherwise, I would not have survived past 50…”

“Cultivator?”

“Yes, a hidden cultivator. He gave me a pill and it was quite similar to yours, both are able to suppress the injury.”

Hearing this, Chen Xi was stunned for a moment.

What he gave Ning Zhong Guo was the Qi Replenishing pill that was refined from the ways of the cultivators. Although healing an injury was just an additional effect, it was still much effective than all the other medicines on Earth.

Someone on earth can actually refine such a similar medicinal pill?

Thinking of this matter, Chen Xi continued to ask, “The one who injured you, who is it?”

“It is a Transformation Energy Expert from the Southern Coastal Provinces. 3 years ago, I went there for a business deal. However, I accidentally offended him and was plotted against, which planted the root of my illness.”

“Transformation Energy Expert? What kind of thing is that?”

This time around, it was Ning Zhong Guo who was stunned.

After hearing Chen Xi’s question, he immediately looked at Chen Xi with a slightly surprised look and tested him, “Mr Chen, are you not from the Martial Arts World?”

“Martial Arts World?” Chen Xi was slightly perplexed.

Seeing that he was not faking his expression, though there were still some doubts in his heart, he explained, “Although the cold weapons era had long passed, traditional martial arts still remain. The Transformation Energy Experts I’m talking about are not those fakes that only know how to make a few fancy moves. The true expert is able to break a 2cm thick metal plate with just a palm strike, a punch to snap a tree with a thickness of a bowl. You can say that they have exceeded the limits of mankind and are standing on a totally different level.”

After hearing his words, Chen Xi doubtfully asked, “So powerful? How come I’ve never heard of it before? If so, then wouldn’t all of them be Olympic champions?”

“To be able to ask such a question, Mr Chen, it looks you are really not from the Martial Arts world…”

Ning Zhong Guo looked at the bewildered Chen Xi and suddenly asked, “How much do you know about the Crackdown?”

“The Crackdown? I’m not too sure, I wasn’t even born at that time…“

“Hehe, then this may be a long story.”

Under Ning Zhong Guo’s explanation, the 3 words, Martial Arts World, gradually lifted its mysterious veil before Chen Xi.

The martial arts in Hua Xia had a long history to it, it can be traced all the way back to the Xia Dynasty. However, the martial arts at that time looked more like dancing.

It was not until when Hua Tuo created the Five Beasts Exercise. From there, China Martial Arts finally welcomed leaping developments and since then, several Martial Arts schools have been established and varying types of martial arts emerged. It could also be said that an innumerable amount of Martial Arts Expert have left their names in the perpetual flow of history.

The last peak of the Martial Arts World took place during the late Qing Dynasty. At that time, experts came forth in large numbers and masters all gathered together. It was known as the best era to practice martial arts.

Gradually, the entire human society started to change from the cold weapons era into the hot weapons era. When a young boy was able to kill an experienced and highly trained Martial Arts Expert with a gun with ease, the Martial Arts World was fated to walk the path of doom.

However, a decline does not necessarily mean extinction.

The real reason behind the disappearance of the Martial Arts World was that normal people didn’t know other than performing, martial arts can also be used to kill, is actually due to the emergence of a country’s special organization. (Martial arts was lost not because it lost effectiveness but because of an emerging organisation.)
Martial Union, better known as International Martial Arts Federation ( international-wushu-federation ), is called IWUF. Established in the capital of China on October 3, 1990. At the beginning of the establishment, it announced to the outside that the organization aimed to motivate the union and unification of each countries’ and regions’ martial arts associations. It also aimed to promote the development organizations of martial arts.

But in fact, only the Martial Artist in the Martial Arts World know that this seemingly common organization to the average person is actually hiding something.

The establishment of the Martial Arts Federation was simply due to an old saying.

A hero is prohibited from using martial arts to commit a crime.

Between 1980 to 1990, the internal stability within China was volatile.

A few highly trained Martial Artist exploited and oppressed the civilians, completely disregarding the country’s law and doing however they please.

A vast and magnificent country had to be cautious of both external and internal threats, causing its people great sufferings and hardships.

During this time of crisis, the country’s leader immediately made a decision and dealt a heavy blow to the evil organizations within the country, returning the long deserving peace to its people.

The open, severe and strict execution effectively restored the peaceful atmosphere within the country in a mere one short year.

The police could still arrest normal criminals, however, as for Martial Experts who have committed crimes, the police could not help but lack the capability to capture them.

In this situation, the country once again made an order to establish the 6th Security Division.

6th Security Division, a special department under the Ministry of State Security, which specifically aims at Martial Experts who have violated the law.

Since the day of its birth, the Martial Arts World in Hua Xia has welcomed an eternal nightmare.

Under the supervision of the 6th Security Division, every aristocratic family, sect and hidden cultivators obediently retracted their own claws and became as honest as a domestic kitten. Every action and every move were firmly controlled by the country.

After one year, it had finally ended. The social atmosphere across the entire country could be said to have received a baptism, cheers and praises erupted from the masses.

Although the Crackdown had ended, the fearsome 6th Security Division within the Martial Arts World did not dissipate but instead, it emerged from the darkness and with a swing of its body, it became the International Martial Arts Federation. It took its place on the stage and became an international colossal organization. It even frequently organized a few meaningless Martial Arts tournament.

In the dark, however, the Martial Federation still has its previous authority over the supervision of the order within the Martial Arts World, so as to prevent the happening of the tyranny of Martial Artists.

The Sword of Damocles that hovered on the head of Hua Xia’s Martial Arts World had also truly purged Hua Xia’s state of peace and orderliness.

Chapter 27: Resolved

After listening to Chen Xi’s narration, Ning Qiu Tong was slightly shocked.

To be honest, her impression of him was not bad.

Abandoning the previous misunderstandings, she could tell from these few interactions that Chen Xi should be a mature and cool-headed man.

She completely did not think that the mature man bringing up a young child would be able to seriously injure someone in a fit of fury, even endangering the victim’s life.

Hence, she could guess how infuriated he was at that time…

Initially, Ning Qiu Tong suggested to compensate the victim with money and establish a deal.

After all, this was the most direct and effective method.

However, upon discovering the victim’s identity, she immediately dismissed the thought of it.

Zhong Hai was large but the circle was small.

Ning Qiu Tong recognized Zhao Yuan and was extremely familiar with Yuan Lang group. She even had a business deal with that group.

Zhao Yuan’s reputation was not very good. If Ning Qiu Tong was the most outstanding representative among the rich second generation heirs, then Zhao Yuan was evidently the most incompetent representative.

Since the victim’s identity was special, Ning Qiu Tong did not dare to promise Chen Xi anything.

After ending the call, she immediately went up to find Ning Zhong Guo.

Ning Zhong Guo had been discharged from the hospital.

Due to the removal of the decayed parts of his lungs and with the prompt consumption of the pill, his condition improved after 2 days.

Even professor Xie was clicking his tongue in wonder after conducting another detailed checkup for Ning Zhong Guo.

Ning Zhong Guo wasn’t fond of the atmosphere within the hospital and despite professor Xie’s futile advice to stay, he could only discharge him under Ning Zhong Guo’s insistent request.

His illness had been effectively contained and as long as he took his medication on time and prevent any wound infection, there won’t be any major issues.

After all, the human body is not made of machinery and if the situation is not dire, then it’s best to avoid surgery.

When Ning Qiu Tong entered Ning Zhong Guo’s room, he was silently reading on the bed.

When Ning Zhong Guo saw Ning Qiu Tong’s anxious face, he immediately laughed and asked, “What happened? Chen Xi called you?”

“He also called you?” Ning Qiu Tong responded with suspicion.

“I guessed,” Ning Qiu Tong shook his head and said mysteriously.

“Dad!”

Looking at his carefree appearance, Ning Qiu Tong could not help but stomped her feet and complained, “If Chen Xi is arrested, then no one else will able to cure you!”

“Look at you, acting so anxious. Is it because of what happened last night?”

“You know what happened?”

“Of course, your father is able to see clearly. It was on television just now…”

Ning Qiu Tong poured Ning Zhong Guo a glass of water and passed it to him. She said in a serious tone, “Dad, stop teasing me. Now is not the time for jokes.”

Ning Zhong Guo drank a mouth of water and smiled, “I received a call this morning. The one injured is Zhao Yuan, right?”

“En, I heard that his injury is very severe. He has not even left the danger period yet…”

“Did you not ask him how he injured Zhao Yuan?”

“Ah?”

Ning Qiu Tong was astounded. She did not understand why Ning Zhong Guo’s focus would be here.

When he saw that his daughter was at a loss, Ning Zhong Guo smiled and passed her the glass of water. Next, he calmly said, “Don’t fret. Old Zhao and I are old friends. He has 2 sons, the younger one is a disappointment, it’s also a good thing that he was put in place…”

Saying up till here, Ning Zhong Guo paused for a while before giving her a glance and continued, “Qiu Tong, since Chen Xi has already promised you to save your father again, the hatred between you two has been dispelled already, right?”

“Eh, I guess so…”

Ning Qiu Tong’s expression was a bit strange.

After hearing Ning Zhong Guo’s question, a faint shade of red surfaced on her face which instantly spread to her ears.

Ning Zhong Guo thought that after knowing Chen Xi wasn’t a swindler, Ning Qiu Tong felt embarrassed for herself.

How would he know that the reason why Chen Xi would not mind the past grievances was due to his daughter’s pleas and begs…

“Since Chen Xi has chosen to disregard your previous actions, then from today onwards, Chen Xi is a distinguished guest of our Ning family. You have to build a good relationship with him in the future, do you understand?”

“En.”

“Go on, give Chen Xi a call. Tell him everything has been resolved.”

Ning Qiu Tong nodded her head and left the room.

Walking along the corridor, the memory from yesterday night surfaced.

‘All of my reputation and name are gone…I have to warn him not to say it out!’

When she thought back to her kneeling in front of Chen Xi, she instantly felt indescribably indignant.

After Ning Qiu Tong left, Ning Zhong Guo placed down the book and took the documents that were placed on the bedside cabinet with much difficulty.

Looking at the documents, he murmured to himself, “Missing for 5 years?”

… … …

Zhong Hai People hospital. ICU.

Zhao Yuan lay on the hospital bed with an oxygen mask attached. He had not woken up since yesterday night.

A 30 to 40-year-old rich lady stood by his bedside.

The rich lady looked at her unconscious son and throbs of pain could be felt in her heart.

At this time, the door of the hospital ward opened.

A man dressed in a suit walked in, he was roughly 30 years old. He lowered his voice as he reported something to her.

After listening to the man’s report, the rich lady suddenly stood up and with an expression of disbelief, she sternly asked, “What? Resolve?”

“Yes, the boss said that he and Old Ning have cooperated several times together and this time around, Old Ning has brought forth a 100 million¥ deal as an apology, hence, he has no way to reject…”

“NO WAY to reject?!”

The woman was incensed, she waved her arms in the air and pointed at the unconscious Zhao Yuan while yelling, “His son was beaten up so badly and now he is still in a coma. Can a 100 million¥ deal buy his son’s life?”

The man did not dare to answer as he lowered his head and stood at the side.

“That old bastard didn’t actually regard Yuan ‘er as his biological son…”

The lady’s chest rose up and down, it seemed like she was truly infuriated.

After ranting, the lady slightly controlled her emotions and coldly said, “You go back and tell Zhao Yi Lang if the father won’t care about his son’s life, then the mother will. He won’t chase after this matter, but I will!”

Just when her words ended, another person walked in.

That person had some resemblance to Zhao Yuan, albeit a bit older.

“Second mom, what’s all this temper about?”

After seeing the man that spoke, her face became darker and unhappily said, “Why are you here?”

“I heard my younger brother is hospitalized. As the older brother, of course, I have to visit him.”

The newcomer was Zhao Yuan older brother, Zhao Chen; Born from the same father but different mother.

The lady did not reply to him and stared at him coldly.

Seeing that, Zhao Chen shrugged his shoulders and continued, “Second mom, some things are not as easy as you think. So you just take care of younger brother these few days. As for other matters, you don’t have to worry.”
